Demand For Electricity To Double
The future of Power Generation with the UPI 1000TA. Smallest, lightest, most-efficient and quieter than any 1,000,000-Watt (One Megawatt) generator in its class on the market today.
Demand for electricity to double
Over the next five years, the demand for electricity is projected to double based on fast growing electricity demand for data centers, ever growing number of electric vehicles, and huge demand of electricity to power artificial intelligence.
UniGen Power Inc. has developed the revolutionary UPI 1000TA – a one megawatt (1,000,000-watt) power generator that outperforms incumbent technology by virtually every metric. Designed from inception to burn clean natural gas, UPI’s proprietary radial engine-powered genset is low-emission, lightweight, compact, versatile, and mobile. With an all-inclusive operating cost of less than $0.05 per kWh, the UPI 1000TA is equally effective as a prime energy source or as emergency / standby power.
Fast Growing Power Supply Demand
Inadequate power supply, unreliable grid infrastructure coupled with escalating demand for invariable power are driving the search for expanded clean, on site, on demand and economical power. Global Market Insights, Inc. projects the global generator sets market to surpass US$34 Billion. UniGen Power and its UPI 1000TA disruptive generator are uniquely positioned to provide this power.
ABOUT
UniGen Power Inc. is a distributed energy company with disruptive technology established to design and manufacture the revolutionary UPI 1000TA – a one-megawatt (1,000,000-watt) generator that outperforms incumbent technology by virtually every metric. Designed from inception to burn clean natural gas, UniGen’s proprietary radial engine-powered genset is low-cost, low emissions, lightweight, compact, versatile, efficient, quiet, and mobile. With an operating cost of approximately $0.03 per kWh and an acquisition cost of $0.035 per kWh, the UPI 1000TA is equally effective as a prime energy source or as emergency / standby power. Moreover, its diversity of applications, $12 million in pre-orders, and expected substantial gross margin position UniGen for exceptional growth and profitability.
UniGen is the 21st century energy breakthrough that provides cost efficient, environmentally friendly, decentralized power generation (i.e., “distributed energy”). From an enclosure no bigger than a medium-size U-Haul trailer, each UPI 1000TA can generate up to 1,000,000 watts of electricity utilizing natural gas. For perspective, that single megawatt is enough to power approximately 350 U.S. homes. Whether towed behind a pick-up truck, flown by helicopter, or installed on the roof of an office tower, the UPI 1000TA is an energy source independent of the grid and optimal for both rural and urban use. Multiple units can daisy-chain together to generate up to 33 megawatts at a fraction of the cost of building traditional power plants.
THE DISRUPTIVE NEW UNIGEN TECHNOLOGY
By applying cutting-edge design and manufacturing tools, methods, and materials, UniGen improves upon the time-tested and iconic, 9-cylinder, aircraft radial engine. UniGen redefines the durability of a radial engine to industrial standards by adding fluid cooling for versatility (US Patent 10,480,388) and integrating a sophisticated, proprietary control and remote monitoring system. Taken together, our modernized, radial engine-driven generator – the UPI 1000TA genset – is smaller, lighter, quieter, greener, less expensive, more efficient, and easier to maintain than any existing 1.0-megawatt capable power source on the market.
MARKET AND APPLICATION
The distributed energy offered by the UPI 1000TA equally meets needs in urban and rural environments, in both developed and developing regions. It’s one megawatt rating is ideal for use in office towers, on oil-drilling platforms, at construction sites, in data centers, atop manufacturing facilities, within residential subdivisions, and in virtually every location needing substantial clean, quiet, cost-efficient power. Because the UPI 1000TA is fueled by natural gas (or any other spark-ignited gaseous fuel, including hydrogen), the cost of energy per kWh, is substantially less than the price available from the grid or other sources including battery-backed solar. The UPI 1000TA is the clean economical solution for primary and backup power.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
UniGen’s products, led by its UPI 1000TA, offer significant advantages over existing power technologies in the one-megawatt space. The dominant incumbents, diesel engine-powered gensets (including those retrofitted to run on natural gas), are poorly equipped to meet growing demand for affordable, clean, quiet, localized power. They are expensive, large, and inefficient, lacking the versatility and mobility of the UPI 1000TA.
- Our disruptive UPI 1000TA delivers the same amount of power in a package that is 1/5th the weight, and 1/3rd the size of existing diesel engine This maximizes its usefulness in buildings, on rooftops, and in urban environments without sacrificing valuable real estate.
- Its electrical efficiency exceeds existing diesel-fired gensets by more than 80%.
- Its estimated operating cost per kWh is a fraction of the cost per kWh for diesel generators and the cost per kWh for natural gas generators.
- Its radial-engine architecture enables servicing in the field, on site, which reduces cost and downtime, maximizes uptime, and expands its geographical market.
- And, its fuel flexibility in running on LNG, CNG, LPG, methane, biogas, propane, hydrogen, and other fuels now, or in the future, means that whatever fuel is available, the UPI 1000TA provides convenient, cost-effective and environmentally-sound electrical power.
- The UPI 1000TA price is substantially less than the competition.
THE PATH FORWARD
The first production validation unit is scheduled to be completed in 2027, at which time extensive high-powered testing, production validation and its EPA, CARB, and UL certifications, genset supporting systems, and enclosures design to begin producing saleable machines to satisfy an existing $12 million purchase order. Mass production will then continue to ramp up thereafter to fulfill other pending orders.
UniGen’s nine-cylinder, 30 liter, 1,550hp radial engine, the heart of our genset, is a patented highly modernized and industrialized version of the mass-produced Pratt and Whitney / Curtis Wright R1820 engine the prime power for many World War II aircraft and used extensively from the 1930’s into the early 1960’s. Over 175,000 of these engines were produced for the War and thereafter. On November 19, 2019, UniGen received a USPTO Patent for our liquid-cooled version of this engine. We believe our proprietary design is the only viable pathway to commercialization of a radial engine-powered genset, thus creating an effective barrier to competitive, industrial-scale engines and gensets.
